Creating a wiki is an easy way to develop web pages.
A wiki is a group of web pages created and edited by one person (or a group of people) that allow for easy access and editing via a web browser. The pages contain text but they also support links and other forms of markup language. Since wiki web sites are easy to use but hard to describe, here’s a great video that explains the wiki concept:
One of the easiest to use wikis is PBwiki. Here’s a video demonstrating how to get started with your wiki in PBwiki:
If you don’t like PBwiki, don’t fret, there are a ton of wikis out there.
If you need help setting up your wiki for use with your academic work at Vassar, feel free to call the Cloisters at x7279.
This is a tutorial for using the bulk scanner in the Cloisters.
With the the bulk scanner (AKA the HP Digital Sender) you can scan in multi-page paper documents and send them via email to anyone you want. Watch this video to learn more.
Adobe Pro, part of the CS3 suite available in the Media Cloisters, lets you take multiple .pdf files and make them one.
Watch this tutorial to learn how.
This is a useful technique if the bulk scanner divides multi-page document. It is also useful for combining many single scans into a single document.
Most people prefer looking at one document rather than managing multiple files. It also keeps your online course materials tidy.
Every Mac in the Cloisters has the Adobe CS3 Suite, which includes
Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat Pro. We are able to help you
tackle design challenges.
If you are interested in scanning, we have two standard scanners, a slide
scanner, a large bed scanner, and a bulk scanner.
